Bob Broadway
Bob Broadway began his career in commercial banking with Barnett Bank after receiving his MBA from Auburn University’s College of Business in 1993. After a short stint in Jacksonville, Florida, Compass Bank brought him to Birmingham to enter their Commercial Loan Officer Training Program. His banking career took him to a few locations, and a few different banks, where he excelled and advanced through various levels of management. When Bob left the banking industry at the end of 2004, he was the Senior Vice President , Commercial Real Estate, of The Bank in Huntsville, Alabama.
In 2001, Bob founded The Broadway Group. Following in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps as a builder, he combined his knowledge of construction and commercial real estate to create a development firm to specialize in retail development of national tenants. In his 20+ year history of real estate development, his companies have developed well over 1,250 ground-up developments. The Broadway Group’s major clients include Dollar General, Wawa, Inc, McDonald’s, AT&T, Fastenal, Cash Advance America, Little Ceasar’s Pizza, Mayer Electric, and Michelin Tire. The Broadway Group has developed properties in New York, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and New Mexico. The Broadway Group employs over 40 individuals and an additional 190 contract workers.
In addition to The Broadway Group, Bob owns Broadway Construction Company (BCC). A general contracting firm, BCC operates under The Broadway Group performing all construction aspects of its development and is licensed as a General Contractor in eleven states.
Bob Broadway also owns an investment property firm, Broadway Capital Investments (BCI). BCI owns a portfolio of commercial retail and office properties in all the above states as well as South Carolina, Illinois, and Florida. Major tenants include Regions Bank, TVA, Local Bank, Trustmark Bank, Pinnacle Bank, First Horizon Bank, and BMSS Advisors.
In March 2015, Bob was awarded the prestigious “2015 Above and Beyond Award” by Dollar General Corporation. This award is given annually to the developer who transcends mere obligation and repeatedly eclipses obstacles. Project after project, problems become opportunities to excel, and Bob has flourished as a master mediator between client and community.
In April 2015, Bob was honored as the Auburn University School of Accountancy’s 2015 Outstanding Alumnus. This award is given annually to a School of Accountancy alumnus who has excelled in the business world and serves as a role model for accounting students at Auburn University.
In April 2018, Bob was honored as the Auburn University Entrepreneur of the Year. This distinguished award is given annually to an individual based on their recent professional accomplishments, their impact as business leaders, ethics and integrity.
Bob finished his undergraduate studies in Auburn University’s Harbert College of Business School of Accountancy in ‘91. He continued on to receive his Master’s in Business Administration from the Auburn University’s Harbert College of Business in ‘93. While a student at Auburn, he was also the president of his fraternity, where he was able to put to practice the leadership skills he was learning and gaining in the classroom.
Bob continues to serve his alma mater today by participating on the Harbert College of Business Dean’s Advisory Board and the Board of Directors for On To Victory, Auburn University’s NIL Collective. He continually supports his local community by serving on a number of boards including the United States Israeli Education Association (USIEA), the Madison County Executive Airport Authority Board, and the Cadence Bank Advisory Board. He is a leader in his church, and has served as Church Treasurer, member of the Leadership Council, and as Deacon Chair. Bob is a member of the Huntsville Rotary Club, where he served on the Centennial II Committee and the Centennial Project Recipient Committee. He is also a member of the Committee of 100, a local Huntsville organization that serves as a catalyst in stimulating Huntsville-area economic development by working with community partners to develop cooperative solutions.
Bob and his kids are avid supporters of Auburn Athletics, the Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center, Auburn University College of Humans Sciences, Auburn University College of Education, Auburn University School of Nursing, as well as the Auburn University Harbert College of Business.
He actively supports numerous other charitable organizations here in Auburn and in Huntsville, including First Baptist Church, USIEA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Downtown Huntsville Rescue Mission, Alabama Prison Birth Ministry, Boys and Girls Club of North Alabama, Huntsville Museum of Art, Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, The Vine Pastoral Counseling Center, and the Huntsville Botanical Gardens.
Bob resides in Huntsville, Alabama with his daughters Summer (17) and Reese (13). He also has three grown children: Madison (29) of Huntsville, Kevin (28) of Los Angeles, and Elizabeth (25) of Auburn.
